About Us
The Richmond Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Self-Defense Academy began in January 2002 in Richmond, Virginia, with the goal of providing top-notch, professional, realistic, and safe Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai training to the greater Richmond community.

Head Instructor Trey Martin is a 4th-degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and certified under Julio “Foca” Fernandez. Mr. Fernandez is a 7th-degree Coral Belt under the late Grandmaster Carlson Gracie, Sr. During his ten years of active competition for the Carlson Gracie Competition Team, Mr. Fernandez went undefeated in over two hundred matches.
